Description

An at-home vaginal microbiome health test kit that assesses your unique Community State Type (CST) and screens for 700+ bacteria and fungi linked to BV and yeast infections.

Who’s it for

The Vaginal Health Test is built for women:

  • Dealing with recurrent BV, yeast infections, or UTIs
  • Planning a pregnancy or undergoing IVF/IUI
  • Experiencing menopause or perimenopause changes
  • Wanting a baseline snapshot of vaginal health
How does testing work

Collect your vaginal sample from the comfort of your home in under a minute and mail it to our lab in your prepaid envelope. Results will arrive within 3-4 weeks.

What can you learn

Your CST, your Lactobacillus levels, and any bacteria linked to BV, yeast infections, or preterm birth risk, plus what to do about it.

Why test your vaginal microbiome

A healthy vaginal microbiome protects fertility, pregnancy, and birth outcomes. An imbalanced one is linked to BV, UTIs, and yeast infections. Most women never get to find out which one they have.

Why trust us

Built by scientists from Johns Hopkins, Stanford, and Harvard. Processed in a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited lab using shotgun metagenomics, the gold standard in microbiome testing.

Shipping & Returns

Free shipping in the US. Ships discreetly, labeled "Women's Microbiome Test." Once you activate your kit and mail back your sample using the included prepaid mailer, you'll receive your results in approximately 3-4 weeks. If you have questions about your order, membership, or need help with a return, our support team is available to help.

This was super helpful and I loved the practical information given.  I feel like I actually have a plan to move forward instead of just guessing.

Gail Weinberger

I knew gut health is really important for overall health, but had no idea that the mom’s microbes had such a huge role to play in the baby’s gut! I made some dietary changes and took a vaginal probiotic after doing Tiny Health’s gut and vaginal tests to prepare for my birth.

Laura M.

After taking Tiny Health’s vaginal and gut tests and being more aware of early-life microbiome health, I decided to attempt a VBAC instead of a planned c-section, and seeing the results encouraged me to continue exclusively breastfeeding my baby.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Tiny Health test look for?

  • A full breakdown of what we find in your vaginal microbiome
  • Your vaginal CST, or community state type
  • Whether you have the protective bacteria (like Lactobacillus) that keep the vaginal tract healthy and that you’ll want to pass to your baby at birth
  • Condition Biomarkers, which may give you clues about what’s happening in your body and the risk for specific conditions
  • Associations between any symptoms you might have and your microbiome
  • Practical tips and recommendations that are unique to your test results
  • A personalized note from Tiny Health’s microbiologists and immunologists

Should I take a vaginal health test during pregnancy?

While many expectant mothers are encouraged to take a prenatal vitamin and DHA during pregnancy, less is often said about vaginal health, even though it plays a key role in a healthy pregnancy and birth.

The microbes you live with have a substantial impact on your own health and on the microbes your baby inherits at birth, a window commonly referred to as a baby’s first 1,000 days.

A healthy vaginal microbiome, rich in protective Lactobacillus, is associated with a lower risk of pregnancy complications and helps seed your baby with beneficial bacteria during a vaginal birth.

Timing matters. We recommend testing in the first trimester and again in the third trimester so you have time to take action if needed.

Does my microbiome affect my fertility or preterm birth?

Yes. The vaginal microbiome plays an important role in both fertility and in supporting a full-term pregnancy.

Studies comparing people who delivered preterm with those who delivered at term show microbiome differences that may be associated with preterm birth or early rupture of membranes.

Preterm deliveries are more often linked to lower levels of protective Lactobacillus and higher levels of bacteria frequently associated with bacterial vaginosis.

For example, high levels of Lactobacillus crispatus at 16 weeks of pregnancy have been associated with protection against preterm birth, while Lactobacillus iners shows up more often in those who deliver preterm.
