Your participation could contribute to science on the potential link between genetics, the gut microbiome, and mental health. In partnership with Neurobiologix and Tiny Health, we intend to publish our findings when the study concludes.

And a significant portion of US adults suffer from mental health disorders. Many of these conditions may be associated with imbalances in the Gut-Brain-Microbiota axis.
Approximately 95% of the body's serotonin is synthesized in the gut, a process directly influenced by the gut microbiota's ability to metabolize tryptophan, the precursor for serotonin. An imbalance in these microbial pathways—favoring inflammation over serotonin production—has been implicated in the pathophysiology of Major Depressive Disorder and other mood disorders. Furthermore, individual genetic variations in the serotonin pathway and intestinal barrier can act as functional bottlenecks, exacerbating these imbalances. The goal of this study is to explore the associations between a broad panel of genetic variants and the compositional and functional profiles of the gut microbiome in adults with mental health conditions. Participants will complete clinical questionnaires and provide at-home saliva and stool samples for advanced genomic and metagenomic analysis.

Get the valuable insights of at-home genetic and gut microbiome testing. Help us better understand how your unique biology and gut microbiome impact mental health conditions.
You may be eligible to participate if you have a self-reported mental health condition (MDD, GAD, PTSD, or Panic Disorder) and are between 18 and 44 years old at the time of the study.
You can learn the most about your baby’s health and protect against chronic conditions by tracking changes on their gut health over their first 1000 days.
We recommend testing at 7 days old, and every 3 months until your baby is 18 months old.

We use shotgun metagenomics, a technology used in microbiome research. Make informed decisions with a comprehensive list of microbes found in your sample.
Through functional profiling, we tell you what microbes are present, how much of them are there, and what they’re actually doing.
Get actionable advice tailored to your age and unique test results. Our at-home tests empower you with strain-level detail and precision science.
We are dedicated to safeguarding your personal information at every turn and we will never sell your personal information. Your data is encrypted with high security standards to ensure complete confidentiality.
Your samples are processed at a U.S. clinical-grade lab to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results.
